题目分析
1. What the river, lake or sea is called
2. Where it is 在描述地理位置的时候注意相关的词汇“located”,“in the middle of the country”等。
3. What the land near it is like 水边的景色往往是美丽的、引人入胜的,考生在回答时可以讲述自己在水边活动的一些记忆,同时也能回答为什么喜欢这片水域的原因。
核心词汇kilometer, south, west, east, north, through, transportation route, majestic, cruise

I’d like to talk about Lake Toba which is located in the middle of the northern part of the Indonesian island of Sumatra near Medan, it is the largest lake in Indonesia and the largest volcanic lake in the world. Lake Toba is the site of a super volcanic eruption that occurred hundreds of thousands of years ago, a massive climate- changing event. The eruption is believed to be the largest explosive eruption anywhere on Earth in human history. Luckily, I have once visited this beautiful lake with my Indonesian classmates. We first started at the ferry port. Riding a ferry boat, we came to the island in the center of the lake. We stayed on this island for two days and interestingly we discovered that there is another lake on this island and it has yet another island in it too. Anyway, I think it is the best trip I’ve ever had, very relaxing and the view from the mountain on the central island is truly wonderful.

I’d like to talk about the Yangtze river, the longest river in China and Asia. It’s about 5, 550 kilometers long and starts in the Tibetan highlands, in southwest Qinghai province and flows through central China into the East China Sea at Shanghai. It is a major trade and transportation route. At the Sichuan basin, it meets up with the Wu River and flows through the Chang Gorges where it’s almost impossible to navigate, except for the locals. There are temples and pagodas perched on the hills along the gorge. In 1994 construction began farther upriver on the Three Gorges Dam, 50 km west of Yichang, the dam was completed in 2009. It is the world’s largest concrete structure and largest hydroelectric station filling reservoir that will hold as much water as lake Superior in Canada and the USA. I like the river because it is so large and majestic. To tell you the truth, I’ve never been there, but a dream of mine is to take a cruise along the Yangtze! I have a friend who took such a cruise, and he said it was one of the most incredible experiences of his life.
