　　Some countries build specialized facilities only for the training of top I athletes, instead of providing facilities that everyone can use. Do you think I this is a positive or negative development?

　　In order to achieve international sporting success, some countries choose to be financially supportive of top athletes in terms of specialized facilities while neglecting the need of others. Although the winning would bring about national benefits, focusing on minorities only seems unwise.

　　It is true that the winning in an international sport event such as the Olympics counts on the performance of top athletes and that their contributions possess symbolic meaning to the whole nation. Given the fact that it takes years of hard work, great self-assurance and high risk of health to stand out in an international match, guaranteeing sports elites the access to high-standard training environment is justified. However, it does not mean that this preference should be for top athletes exclusively.

　　The great expenditure on sporting facilities only for top athletes is not only unfair for the other sportsmen but also to the general public. Foi^the former, other athletes would certainly feel a sense of disappointment in the stiff competition with those sports elites, leading to the unwilling results in some internejtional sport games, especially in the team sports such as basketball. For the latter, it fails to provide the right that is supposed to be ensured to the tax payers. It is imaginable that without sufficient sports facilities open to the public, the decline of public health could be happening. Instead, building up more community sporting facilities seems to be a more rational way for a nation to ladder up its international reputation and the success accompanied, because it is more rewarding to create an sporting spirit among the public.

　　To conclude, planning and running to build an international level stadium should be at the benefits of all instead of a few number of sports stars only.
