When I was eleven, I went to a friend’ s birthday party. I remember it well, because his parents hired a clown to entertain us. The clown did magic tricks and some juggling. There were about fifteen children there and five or six adults to supervise us and keep us happy with drinks and food. We had some hamburgers, followed by sweets and, of course, birthday cake. We also sang some songs, including ‘Happy Birthday’. To be honest, I don’ t know why I remember this party more than other birthday parties from my childhood. There was nothing really amazing about it.
Recently, I went to a party organised by the company I work for. I remember it precisely because it was so recent. There were about fifty people there, mainly people from the company but also some clients. It was quite formal, so there were no jeans in view. It lasted from about 6 p. m. to 9 p. m. There was a buffet with a good selection of food and there was beer, wine and soft drinks. I enjoyed the party because it was a great chance to chat to people from different departments that I know but don’ t often speak with. I hope that such parties are organised more regularly by my company.
