2雅思口语Part 2 参考文本

I’ve lost a few things over the years. Sometimes they’ve found their way back to me, and other times they’ve disappeared forever. For example, I’ve lost my wallet a couple of times, and unfortunately never got it back, but the most stressful time was when I lost my phone.

Like most people these days, I do everything with my phone and without it I feel a bit lost. Whether it’s doing my banking or sending messages to colleagues, most of the time I’ll reach for my phone instead of my laptop.

There was this one time I was taking a taxi home and had a lot on my mind. I was lost in thought and wasn’t really paying attention when the taxi dropped me off at home. I got out, paid the driver, and didn’t even notice that my phone was laying on the back seat.

The cab drove off and a few moments after I entered my house. I noticed that something was missing.

I immediately went into panic mode because I didn’t know how to contact the driver or even which taxi company it was that had taken me home. All kinds of scenarios were running through my mind. What if the driver or another passenger steals my phone? What if someone uses my phone to steal my identity? Eventually, I calmed down and tried to rectify the situation.

At that time, I lived alone so I didn’t have anyone who could help me ring my own phone to try to get my phone back. Fortunately, I had some credit on my Skype account so I was able to use my laptop to call my phone. After several attempts, the driver answered. I explained what had happened, and asked if he would be kind enough to bring the phone back to me.

I gave him my address and had some money prepared for when he arrived. I felt relieved and beyond lucky that I was going to get my phone back.

I heard a knock on the door and it was the taxi driver with my phone in his hand. I was smiling ear to ear and offered him some money for his help. He shook his head and refused, but instead wished me a good night as he passed me my phone. It was a huge relief and I felt extremely grateful.
