Do you often use a dictionary?

All the time. I used to look up words in the English-Chinese dictionary when I was a beginner, but now I find the English- English dictionary more useful when I reach a certain level of studying English as a foreign language. And of course there's also the Chinese-Chinese dictionary I still have to use in daily life, even though I'm a Chinese.

How often do you use it?

Let me take a wild guess, well, on average about more than ten times a day. I have an online dictionary available to me as an easy shortcut whenever I feel that I might need it. I also use it when I need to verify my spelling.

Do you use dictionary?

I use an online dictionary more than a book. I use www.dictionary.com all the time when I am unsure of the spelling or meaning. I can't remember the last word I looked up.

Which kind of dictionaries do you prefer to use?

Getting the right dictionary is important in the learning process. I prefer monolingual dictionary such as the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary. It’s the best dictionary with frequency information, collocation boxes, and exercises.

Do you think the dictionary is useful?

Yes. It provides a list of words and often a wide range of examples as in how the different words are used. A good dictionary provides us with information we need in order to spell and use correct grammar regarding each different word.

What are the benefits of using dictionary for kids?

A dictionary for kids can help children acquire vocabulary, improve their spelling and enhance their reading comprehension skills. A child that is comfortable with a dictionary will tend to do better at school.
