Speaking Part 1
1. How often do you go out with friends? [Why/ Why not?]
1 I hang out with my friends every week, because I like playing and chatting with them. It’ s probably not every day, but at least 5.
2 Normally, about once a week. As I’ m a student at the moment, I have lots of homework and projects to complete and I don’ t really have more time to go out. Also, if I was to go out every night it would become quite expensive.
2. Tell me about your best friend at school.
1 My roommate Ivy is my best friend in school; she is kind and friendly to everyone. She likes sharing with us and often helps others when they are in trouble. Sometimes, I don’ t know what I’ d do without her.
2 My best friend, is called Judy. She is a little bit taller than me and very slim. Also, she’ s a very kind girl and is very selfless, being the first person to help others if they have a problem. I’ ve only known her for about a year, since we started university actually, but as we live together in the dormitory we became fast friends.
3. How friendly are you with your neighbours? [Why/ Why not?]
1 I would say very friendly. We often go for a walk after supper and they take good care of my dog when I go out. I will also occasionally help them, too, if they need it.
2 I’ d say we’ re quite friendly. Every year during the Spring Festival we invite them over for dinner and exchange gifts. If ever I have a problem I know I can go to them and they will help me, similarly, I would also help them if they asked.
4. Which is more important to you, friends or family? [Why?]
1 Family is more important to me, by far. They always support me no matter what I do or what trouble I get into. My parents always help me with money if I want to go out, but my friends don’ t do that.
2 For me, I think family is more important. When I was growing up my parents were always there to teach me new things and help me when I needed it. Although friends also do this, they don’ t do it to the same extent that family does.
