Artists are the ones who use their innovative works and paintings to enlighten the general public while political leaders are people who focus on rolling out policies and making crucial decisions on the country’s domestic affairs. With the development of modern society, there is no denying that both of them play important roles in improving people’s living standards. However, as far as I am concerned, people benefit more from political leaders.

To begin with, political leaders play the indispensable role in improving people’s basic living standards. For one thing, with the most professional knowledge in economics and politics, political leaders are able to make decisions which are favorable to their citizens. For example, they may persuade the Parliament to higher the national minimum wage which improves the life of normal workers, they can also encourage the government to plan for extra budget which gives free education to poor students. This kind of action is extremely important during periods of economic recessions. When the USA experienced the Great Depression in the 20th century, President Roosevelt gave the famous Fire Chat to his citizens every day in order to strengthen their confidence in their nation’s future recovery. His strong will effectively brought the USA economy back to the normal track, which apparently shows that political leaders can influence the well-being of the citizens as well as the country as a whole.

Furthermore, political leaders are more powerful in creating a society with fairness and justice. As selected by the general public, the authorities must be trusted and followed by most people. Equipped with great personal charisma, political leader’s decisive decisions and unswerving faith can usually reshape the society and therefore make it a better place for everyone. This idea can be illustrated by the example of Nelson Mandela, who is the first president of South Africa. Despite the unfair destiny that he was imprisoned for 27 years, he still aimed at solving the racial conflict inside his country. After resuming freedom, Mandela urged the South African people to forget about hatred and set up new orders in that country. His words were so captivating that he won the support from both white and black people and now he is renowned as the “Father of South Africa”. Mandela was a typical example of political leader that utilized his power to save his citizens from endless chaos, from whom we can get the idea that political leaders are able to reshape the society to more fair and more free one.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that people benefit more from political leaders for the simple reason that they play more important roles in improving people’s living standards and making the society a better place for everyone.
