托福口语TPO30 Task1(题目+解析+范文):Characteristics of a good neighborhood

托福TPO30口语task1题目 Question:

A friend of yours is looking for a new place to live andhas asked for your advice. What do you think is themost important characteristic of a goodneighborhood? Use details and examples to explainyour answer.

托福TPO30口语task1范文:

Being quiet - because home is the place torelax ournerves and enjoy peace with families—so theapartment should not bearound CBD where there arecrowded traffic and a high flow of people whichwouldbe noisy. Convenient - because in a capital city likeBeijing ,takingpublic transportation is more efficient than driving private cars—so living inablock where you can walk to the bus stop or supermarket within 10 minuteswould beadmirable. Although the rent/price is higher, it’s worthwhile.

托福口语TPO30 Task2(题目+解析+范文):Choose a career

托福口语task2题目Question:

Do you agree or disagree with the followingstatement: Parents should be involved in the processof helping their children to choose a career. Usespecific examples and details to support youropinion.

托福口语task2范文:

Parents are people who know their kids more than others. Since they have experienced the situation of making a career decision and are more realistic with knowledge about working &socializing in a company, the advice from them is usually practical, like they know which field is less competitive and suitable for their pure kids. Most people at the age of choosing a career are not truly clear about their future, like it’s such a pain in the neck for my cousin and his classmates. Children are all individuals with their own dreams and plans for their future .they have the right to decide whether to be a doctor or a cleaner. If parents are too authoritarian and push their ideas to kids, the relationship between them will be deadlocked and even cause hurt to the teenagers. Although parents might have experience based on their situation, yet their sons or daughters' problems are totally different. So their advice are somewhat inappropriate because they're kind of out of touch with current world's development.

托福口语TPO30 Task3(听力+解析+范文):Campus Construction

Reading Part:

Campus Construction Should Happen Duringthe Summer

I've noticed that small construction projects oncampus – like fixing side walks and parking lots –often take place during the regular school year, when classes are in session.I propose thatwhenever possible the university should schedule such construction projects to take placeduring the three-month summer break. One reason is that construction projects can be sodisruptive; they create inconveniences and can make it hard to get where you need to go oncampus. And, second, construction projects would be more likely to be completed quickly ifthey were scheduled for the summer when the weather is usually good.Sincerely,Eric Hughes

听力原文:

Now listen to two students discussing the letter:

(man) So, Jane, what do you think of Eric’sproposal?

(woman) I’m all for it.

(man) So you think it’s true? What he says about the problems about the way it’s being done?

(woman) Yeah, I do. Take his first reason. Like, I know you don’t drive, but I do drive hereevery day, so I need a place to park my car. And remember last year when they decided torepair some of the parking lots?

(man) Oh yeah, I remember that, there was a lot of work going on, wasn't there? Starting inDecember.

(woman) Right, at least four lots were closed, and that meant there weren't enough parkingspots for students and professor’s cars. I usually had to circle around looking for parking on oneof the streets. And then walk from the street all the way to my classes.

(man) That’s annoying.

(woman) Yeah, and it happened to a lot of other people in my classes too! People were alwaysarriving late because of the trouble they had parking. Sometimes even my professors were late.

(man) Yeah.

(woman) And also, his second point? That makes sense too. I mean, for instance, part of thereason those parking lot repairs last year took so long was because of the big snowstorms. Theyhad to keep stopping, sometimes for a week or two at a time, because of snow and ice on theground.

(man) Yeah, I remember that, we had a bunch of snowstorms in a row last year.

(woman) Yeah, so with all that starting and stopping cause of the weather, the problem tookthem a lot longer to finish.

Question:

The woman expresses her opinion about theproposal in the letter. Briefly summarize theproposal, then state her opinion about theproposal and explain the reasons she gives forholding that opinion.

TPO口语-范文

Eric proposes that university should scheduleconstruction projects to take place during thesummer break as they create inconveniences andcould be completed quickly in summer when theweather is usually good. The woman in theconversation totally supports it. Because last December when the parking lot was repaired, parking were really inconvenient ,like most students including her and teachers who drive tocampus needed to park cars on streets and walk to classes which made them late for class. Alsothe reason why the lots repairing took too long wast here were bunches of snow storms whichcaused the projects kept stopping from time to time.

托福口语TPO30 Task4(听力+解析+范文):Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence

We often think of human intelligence as the mentalability to analyze and understand complex ideas. However, many psychologists believe that there is adifferent type of intelligence called emotional intelligence. People with emotionalintelligence have the ability to recognize their true feelings and understand what is causingthem. This ability to understand their own feelings enables them to better control theiremotional responses, changing or correcting them when necessary. Emotional intelligencehelps people to behave appropriately in social situations, which allow them to maintain goodrelationships with others.

听力原文:

Now, listen to part of a lecture in a Psychology class.

(male professor)

So, here’s an example: my daughter had a friend over to our house recently and they decided to watch a movie together, only they got into an argument because they couldn't decide on what movie to watch. My daughter started to get quite upset during the argument, which wasn't like her at all. But then, my daughter stopped, and thought about why she was so upset. She realized her reaction was inappropriate, and she also realized she wasn’t really upset with her friend… there was something else bothering her.

See, she’d just gotten this summer job as a camp counselor for children, and she was feeling a lot of worry and stress about how well she would do, she said she’d never worked with children before, so she figured out that she wasn't upset about what movie to watch with her friend, but about starting her new job. She really wanted it to go well. She wanted the kids to like her. And when she understood this, she stopped arguing with her friend, and apologized to her. She told her friend how anxious she felt about starting the job, and how sorry she was about getting upset with her, and her friend encouraged her, saying she’d do great at the job! So my daughter felt better, and they relaxed and had fun together, same as always.

Question:

Explain how the example from the lecture illustrates the concept of emotional intelligence.

TPO口语-范文

Emotional intelligence helps people to behaveappropriately in social situations, which allows themto maintain good relationships with others. Theprofessor told an example of his daughter who waswatching a movie with her friend. They argued aboutwhat to watch got upset. The she realized that her reaction was not appropriate and also shewas not really upset about her friend but her summer job with kids because she hadn’t workedwith them before and wanted to do well. Then she apologized to her and explained her reason. Her fiend encouraged her which made her relaxed and then had fun together.

托福口语TPO30 Task5(听力+解析+范文):See a movie

Listening Part:

听力原文:

Listen to a conversation between two students.

(man) Hey Julie, what’s up?

(woman) Oh, hi George. I’m just waiting for myfriend Amy. We’re supposed to drive into towntogether to see a film at one of the movie theaters there.

(man) Sounds great!

(woman) Yeah, our professor from film class wants us to go see it. It’s a film by one of thedirectors we’ve been studying and we’ll be discussing the film next week in class.

(man) Cool!

(woman) Yeah, but I’m the one with the car, and we were supposed to meet like 15 minutesago, and Amy hasn’t shown up. She’s really late, if we don’t leave in like the next few minuteswe’re going to miss the beginning of the movie.

(man) Have you tried calling her?

(woman) Yeah, I’ve called her several times and left voice mails. She hasn’t responded to any ofmy messages, so, anyway, I don’t know what I should do.

(man) Well, I know Amy’s your friend and everything, but if you need to see the film, andyou’ve already been waiting 15 minutes for her, I mean…maybe you should just go byyourself?

(woman) You mean, just leave now, without her? Yeah, I guess she could see it another time. They are showing the film again tomorrow, so Amy could still go see it then, but I’ll be busytomorrow, so I need to go today.

(man) Maybe you could just leave Amy a voicemail saying that you had to leave without her.

(woman) That’s true, but… I don’t know, maybe I should just wait 10 more minutes and golate to the film. She might be on her way over here right now! She did mention that she had alot of other things to do first before she met me…and besides, Amy’s often late for stuff.

(man) But if you wait another 10 minutes for her, you’ll be late for the movie, right?

(woman) Yep.

Question:

Briefly summarize the problem the speakers arediscussing. Then state which of the two solutionsfrom the conversation you would recommend.Explain the reasons for your recommendation.

TPO口语-范文

The woman has waited Amy for 15minutes to see a movie in town, but she hasn’t shown up even didn’t response any of the calls or voice messages. The first solution is that she could she can go by herself and leave a voice to her. The second solution is to wait another 10 min since Amy's often late. I personally prefer the first solution. Because firstly, there is only chance that she sees the movie before it's discussed on class and she has other work to do and it's Amy's fault not arriving on time. Even if Amy would miss it, she still has another chance the second day and she will understand the speaker.

托福口语TPO30 Task6(听力+解析+范文):Subsurface locomotion

Listening Part:

听力原文:

Listen to part of a lecture from a Biology class.

When we humans walk from place to place, we moveon the Earth’s surface, across the Earth’s surface. Many animals of course do the same thing. Horsesand dogs and cows and so on, all move on the surface, across the surface of the Earth. Thereare also, there are quite a few animals that have the ability to move from place to placeunderground, beneath the Earth’s surface. This moving around underground is calledsubsurface locomotion. Sub surface location has a number of benefits.

One benefit of subsurface locomotion is that it enables animals to minimize their exposure toextreme temperatures. This is very helpful to animals that live in areas with harsh climates, where it could be very dangerous to spend large amounts of time on the surface. For example,in the Sahara Desert, in Africa, there’s a type of lizard that’s able to move beneath the surface, through the sand, very quickly. Because this lizard can move so easily and so quicklyunderground, it doesn’t have to travel on the surface, where it would be exposed todangerously high temperatures.

Another benefit of subsurface locomotion is that it can help animals capture prey. That’sbecause animals on the surface can’t see predators approaching underground. Our lizard in theSahara Desert is again, a good example. The way it works is, when an insect is walking nearbyon the surface, it produces very subtle vibrations in the sand. When the lizard senses thesevibrations, it moves very quickly. Underground, where it can’t be seen, toward the source ofthe vibrations. It then pops up directly under the insect and catches it by surprise.

Question:

Using the example of the lizard form the lecture, explain two benefits of subsurface locomotion.

TPO口语-范文

Subsurface locomotion is the ability than animals can move beneath earth and it has two benefits .one benefit is that it enables animals to minimize exposure to extreme temperature, avoid harsh climate. Like the Saharan desert lizard because it could move quickly and doesn’t walk on surface it avoided the high temperature. The other benefit is it helps animals capture prey because animals on surface can’t see them. Still like Saharan Lizard sense vibration produced by insects walking in sand, the lizard could move quickly to them and catch them by surprise.
